When I was younger I always dreamed of being in a band – who didn’t right? Well my dream came true for a brief moment recently when I got to act out my childhood fantasy. There was a fundraiser for one of our clients recently and as part of the fundraiser, a charity auction was held. On offer were things like holidays and theatre tickets and jewelry. But what caught my eye was a charvel so cal guitar and the chance to play like a pro with the house band on the night. I nearly cried with excitement!

Hired help – the new way to do it

Have you ever been in a store and dropped your wallet without it being closed properly and all your coins go rolling around everywhere? Well I witnessed this first hand today. Normally I’m known for laughing at the misfortune of others (I have a weird sense of humour I know!!) but today was different. The young woman this happened too was pushing a double buggy and also had another pre-schooler to contend with when this happened. I thought she was going to curl up on the floor and just cry. She didn’t need to though, there were several very chivalrous young men on hand to help.

You’re supposed to learn from your mistakes right? So how come I don’t?! Not for the first time, I sat on my Sunglassesthis morning and broke them. And it couldn’t have happened on a sunnier more glarey morning driving to work!! Try as I might, I couldn’t wear my damaged sunnies even when I tried using sticking plaster to hold them together. Definitely investing in a case for my next pair of shades.

The saying that you pay for what you get really does ring true when it comes to clothing I find. And when it comes to uniforms, you really can’t go wrong with cherokee workwear. Good value, great quality garments in easy care fabrics and a good diverse range. My brother’s birthday is coming up and I know he needs new scrubs so I’ve bought him a voucher for Cherokee so that he can spend it wisely.

Trying to organise chaos isn’t easy

As it’s the New Year, I’m trying to get organised – part of my new year, new me policy. So far, so good! The first thing that needs reorganising is my desk – cables everywhere and no idea which cable is for what. So, I bought some wire covers to organise and group my cables together. It was all going swimmingly until I encountered a knot in a batch of cables. I started to get very frustrated but undeterred I battled on and I now have organised cables. Now I just need to organise the rest of my ‘to-do’ list and see what’s next on the agenda!

We had our office Christmas party last weekend and we did Secret Santa. I ended up buying for a colleague that I didn’t really know but whoever bought for me must have known that I recently took up yoga because I got a really cool present – I got a theraband set! I was chuffed with my present. Felt rather bad for the girl that got the present from me, I bought her a novelty maternity Santa outfit. What’s so wrong with that I hear you ask? How about the fact that she’s not pregnant?!

Diamonds are forever – just like family

My sister is in for a treat this Christmas. Her husband has been looking at diamond eternity band and is having one specially made for her. She’s going to love it! They had their 4th child earlier this year and that’s their family tree done and dusted for them. She’d always hinted that she wanted an eternity band once they had kids but after their first was born, money was tight and they couldn’t afford it. It seems that her husband has been saving for this present for years. What a gem.

What with these economically challenging times, people are looking for ways to enhance their disposable income. A neighbour invited us in for coffee recently. She’d just moved into the area and was introducing herself to the neighbours in an effort to make friends. She’s new to the area and doesn’t know many people. She’s a teacher by day but I noticed some jewelry making tools in her spare room. She makes specially commissioned pieces of jewelry and it seems that there’s a market for it!

Starting up and going it alone freshly!

We’re a new start up company and in order to make sure we achieve all that we need too. We’ve kept our overheads to a minimum and decided against renting an office space. We’re going for a more online presence and so we’re working with a a company that provide turnkey marketing solutions for online businesses. We’ve been working with tej kohli grafix softech and things are going well. tej kohli company ceo has been inspirational to us. The company have been really great to work with, they seem to understand our needs and strive to be the best at what they do - something that we do too. Recently heard that tej kohli forbes listed. That has really impressed us. We’re wondering when we’ll make that list! Some day we will! In the meantime we’re just going to keep working really hard and do everything we can to make our business a success. It’s not going to be easy in these difficult economic times but we are so determined not to be another statistic in the list of failed enterprises. No, we’re going to be a statistic in the successes of our times. And Grafix Softech is going to be the company to help us achieve our dreams.

Head over heels but it’s definitely not love

Have you ever been immature enough to have a race in your office on your office chairs? Well today, we had what you might call an office derby. We had heats and I ended up going head to head with the office clown. We were in the middle of our race when he edged slightly ahead and tried to put an obstacle in my way when one of the casters came off his chair and he started careering towards my side of the ‘track’. Unable to avoid him, I crashed straight into him and took a nasty tumble off my chair. I ended up in A&E with a fractured wrist and he ended up with a bloodied nose and a broken shoulder.
